Biography

On July 3, 1884, twenty-four residents in northeastern Dakota Territory filed with the Cass County Board of Commissioners to organize Berlin Township. Most of the settlers had come from Berlin, Wisconsin, and chose the name for that reason. Sam Edwards covered miles with his horse and buggy to collect signatures on the petition.
