Photographic prints by Leone (Sands) Johnson and acquired by her while attending the North Dakota Agricultural College (1925-1926) and teaching at Velva, N.D. (1926-1927). Original photoprints organized topically in general chronological sequence. Includes views of campus buildings, Home Economics Club, YWCA board, portraits of NDAC students, 1926 homecoming, 1925 football game and home economics practice house. There are many views of Phi Omega Pi sorority including its house, activities, members and a national meeting. The Velva, N.D. pages include high school students, glee club, social scenes, homes where Johnson lived and the Lovers Lane Rest Camp at Jamestown, N.D.

Biographical sketch
Leone Mildred Sands was born at Stonington, Ill. on August 14, 1902, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Drake) Sands. She grew up in Fargo, N.D. and graduated from the North Dakota Agricultural College in 1926 with a degree in home economics. She taught at Velva, N.D. in 1926-27 before marrying Tracy W. Johnson and moving to Corvallis, Oregon in 1938. The couple had two daughters, Virginia and Barbara. She worked as the secretary-director of the YMCA/YWCA at Oregon State University. She received her master’s degree from O.S.U. and became director of student programs, and taught leadership training. She retired in 1964. She died on March 20, 1990.
