Biography

Albert Herberg was born on February 5, 1875, in Herberg Township, Traill County, Minnesota, to Johan Mikal Thomassen Herberg, and Magel Serine Thorson. His parents were Norwegian emigrants and early settlers in Dakota Territory. Herberg Township was named for after his father. Upon adulthood, Albert moved across the Red River to the town of Halstad, Minnesota, where worked as a well driller. He married Inga Mathilda Martinson, on June 12, 1899, and together they had five children. Albert Herberg died on June 8, 1956, in Halstad, at the age of 81.
