Biography

Born at Giessen, Germany on June 7, 1857. Emigrated at age 14, traveled to Fargo, N.D. and started a clothing store in 1881. Constructed other downtown Fargo structures. Active in Fargo city government, he also served one term in the N.D. House of Representatives and was active in the United Jewish Appeal. His wife, Bertha (Kaufman) Stern, died in 1930; he died June 3, 1934, in Fargo.
