Biography

Andrew Hugh Laughlin was born near Markeson, Wisconsin in 1848. He came to Minnesota in 1876. He homesteaded near Lisbon, North Dakota in 1882. He was a farmer, Ransom County Register of Deeds, Commissioner of Agriculture and Labor, and member of the North Dakota State Legislature. He was married to Marion J. Dunbar in 1883, and she died in 1886, leaving him with two children, Leigh and Lulu. He married a second time to Eliza Sargent, and they had one son Dell. Andrew and Eliza were divorced in 1896. He married a third time to Mary Ayers Mcassey in 1904. Andrew died in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1914. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, in Lisbon.
