Biography
James B. Connolly, born August 16, 1915 at New England, N.D. He had a long career in the newspaper business. He first worked for the Slope County Post, at the young age 16, where he served as editor. After graduating from high school, he worked for the Bismarck Tribune, Minneapolis Tribune, and the Fargo Forum. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he worked for the Office of Price Administration in Fargo, N.D. He was married to Mildred Higgins in 1947. After their marriage, they moved to Dickinson, N.D. where he was involved in the Chamber of Commerce.
Later he returned to Fargo, to work as secretary of the North Dakota Automobile Club. In this position he worked as editor of the North Dakota Motorist and the North Dakotan. I initiated the “Know Your North Dakota”, a weekly series that ran in newspapers across the state. He also served as president of the Cass County Historical Society, and was active in the development of Bonanzaville, U.S.A. pioneer village at West Fargo. James Connolly died on July 30, 1981.
