Biography

Born Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Andrew and June (Anderson) Johnson at Viroqua, Wisc. The family moved to N.D. in the 1880s and settled near Leonard, N.D. She began working as assistant to Helendale Farm cook, Annie Anderson. Wed Ludvig (Louis) Vangsness in 1892. She moved to Sheldon, N.D. and worked as a maid and took in laundry.
