Biography
Born at East Smithfield, Penn., son of J. Don and Victoria Phelps Tracy. The family moved to Amenia, N.D. in 1881. He wed Helen Partridge who died in 1909; he married Hilda Thorsen. They settled in Emmons County, N.D. He began writing for newspapers, under the name 'Hal Tracy,' after retiring from ranching in 1945. Died at Linton, N.D.
