Includes mention of the homestead built by his father, Carl Walters, and of the Grandin elevator that stood nearby, hauling grain on the Red River, James Pratt, the first elevator manager, Jacob Walters' job on the steamboat "Minnesota," and its crew, Jacob's brother, Charlie Walters, Jacob's wife, Bertha Swenson Walters, and addendum mentioning Bertha's birthdate and their two adopted children. Biography

Born at Menomonie, Wisc., son of Carl Walters, a German immigrant. Wed Bertha Swenson in 1887. They farmed near Hillsboro, N.D., then moved to a farm near Perley, Minn.
