Biographical / Historical
Born at Mergentheim, Wurttemberg, Germany. Brothers emigrated to Ohio. John filed a claim in Dakota Territory. They moved to Tampico, Mont. in 1889, established a cattle ranch and raised alfalfa using irrigation methods. In 1912, both men hired to manage Humboldt Farm, Humboldt, Minn., owned by James J. Hill. George died as result of automobile accident and was buried at Crookston, Minn. In 1917 John bought Hill Farm, Northcote, Minn., later sold it around 1920, moved to Canada where he farmed. Died 1924, buried at Winnipeg, Manitoba.
