Biography

Olav was born in 1903 as Alexander Edward Christian Frederik to Prince Carl, crown prince of Denmark, and Princess Maud, daughter of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom. Olav was given the name when his father became king of Norway. He would succeed his father to the Norwegian throne in 1957. He passed away in January 1991.
