Biography

Olav Thortvedt came from Norway to Minnesota in the mid-1800s. From Houston county Minnesota in 1870, Olav and his family traveled to the area and settled the Buffalo river settlement. His homestead is approximately five miles northeast of Glyndon, Minnesota. The family included several children as well his wife Thone Saangdal Thortvedt. The family farmed the land in the area and even a granddaughter became well-known local artist.
