Photocopy of letter, dated Feb. 4, 1922, from C.W. Reichert, president of Equity Co-operative Packing Company, West Fargo, N.D., regarding a mortgage on the company and requesting money to assist with the payment; McKinnon was a shareholder in the company. Two letters from his granddaughter, Phyllis Sander, one refers to Janet McKinnon, and another mentions Peter McKinnon, her grandfather, the kick in the head from the mule, the operation afterwards, division of the farm after the death of Hattie McKinnon, a brief mention of Hattie Shaver McKinnon's relatives, the Shaver family and the Aaron Howe family, who settled near Mapleton, N.D.

Biography

Peter McKinnon was born between November 19, 1869 in Perth, Ontario, Canada to James and Janet A. (Lamont) McKinnon). At some point, the family emigrated to Raymond township, Cass County, ND and in the 1885 Dakota Territory census, they are living in there. Peter married Hattie Belle Shaver (James and Emma (Howes) Shaver) on February 27, 1905 in Cass County, North Dakota. They had three children, Lucille E. McKinnon Leiseth Swenson, James Harris McKinnon, and Muriel Miriam McKinnon. Peter and his family would farm near Mapleton, North Dakota until his death on December 24, 1942.
