Scrapbook of newspaper clippings documenting the baseball career of Robert "Ralph" Shanks while with the Fargo Athletics in 1922 and the Moorhead Athletics in 1923 and one clipping from 1928 when playing with the Fargo-Moorhead Twins. The scrapbook appears to have been compiled by Veda Cavers, his future wife. There is also a letter about getting employment in Fargo and a flyer from a game with the Verona, N.D. team.

Biography

Shanks, known as Ralph Shanks during his baseball career, was born at Hannah, N.D. in 1898 He served in World War I and attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. In Fargo he played with the Fargo Athletics, Moorhead Athletics, and the Fargo-Moorhead Twins baseball teams in the 1920s He later worked at the IRS office in Fargo.
