Biography

Patrick Costello was born in Logansport, Indiana, son of James and Anistasia (Hoynes) Costello on February 10, 1870. He moved to North Dakota and started farming in 1888, sold out, worked as a railroad fireman. Traveled to Panama, returned to the U.S. and began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad at Jamestown, North Dakota. He bought land along the Red River, and began farming about 1906 near Argusville. He married Helga Herness on April 13, 1924, and together they had three children, Jerry, Wilma, and Richard. He began garbage collection and hog feeding business in Fargo, N.D. in 1929. He died in Griggs County, North Dakota April 10, 1961. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Fargo.
