Biography

Torkel Fuglestad was born March 13, 1856 in Bjerkrem, Norway. Until 1883, he worked in the shipyards in Stavanger, Norway. Then he and his wife, Abigael (Osland), whom he married in 1880, immigrated to the U.S. After a long journey, he eventually filed for a section of farm land. Near the Sheyenne River in the Broadview township. He would continue to farm until 1922. He and Abigael had seven children. He passed away June 24, 1954 in Greggs County, North Dakota.
