Correspondence, an autobiographical sketch (19 leaves), eulogy for his wife, Mabel Shride Westergaard (1883-1955), copies of his published articles, including "Orin G. Libby," (6 pages), "The Baltic Sea in history," (14 pages), and an annotated copy of "Marcus Thrane in America : some unpublished letters from 1880-1884" (5 pages).

Biography

Born February 4, 1883 at Buffalo, N.D., son of Jacob and Kristine (Anderson) Westergaard, Graduated from Valley City Normal School, Valley City, N.D. in 1903. Wed Viola Minor; she died in 1917. Wed Mabel Shride Pinger. Taught history at University of California, Los Angeles. He died June 4, 1963, in Las Angeles.
