Scope and Contents

The History of National Women’s Political Caucus Series consists of the history of the NWPC, its purpose and mission. The series also includes organizational by-laws and information on women’s issues that were important to the member and the NWPC’s mission. The Candidate Information Series consists of member lists, candidates running for office, and their endorsements. The Campaign Ephemera Series consists of the political caucus events, letters for support, and advertising that the candidates used including product booklets. The Letterhead Series consists of blank letterhead memos and envelopes for the NWPC.

This collection focuses on the Agassiz Women’s Political Caucus. This group is a bipartisan women’s organization, devoted to women’s representation in the State and National public office. The organization helped to nominate the first woman vice presidential candidate in the nation’s history. The group committed itself to the Equal Rights Amendment, and governmental attention to child care. The group sought to get progressive women of both parties elected to public office at every level to place issues important to women on the public agenda. This included pay equality, pension and social security reforms, and adequate day care for children. In 1982, the Agassiz Women’s Political Caucus became active in sponsoring candidates’ workshops, and educating women candidates. The organization encourages all people to vote and become politically active.
