Scope and Contents
The Fargo Diamond Jubilee Corporation records consist of the records of the central office of the Corporation and document its activities in the planning and execution of Fargo’s Diamond Jubilee celebration in 1950. They have been organized into three series: Meeting Minutes and Correspondence, Committees, and Subject files.
The Minutes and Correspondence Series includes the meeting minutes of the Executive Committee which are quite complete. The correspondence, arranged chronologically with both incoming and outgoing letters, is not complete but still gives a good indication of the types of activities involved in organizing the celebration. The letters are mainly from Homer W. Ludwick, executive vice-president of the Fargo Chamber of Commerce and initial organizer of the Corporation; George C. Hoenck; James S. Mace, connected with the Rodgers Producing Company staged the Fargorama pageant. Also included are the form letters used, its Diamond Jubilee News newsletter, and the final financial report.
The Committee Series contains all material related to the activities of the various committees. The types of material found are correspondence, promotional literature, committee members, newspaper clippings, and special forms and lists. Most files are quite incomplete and none include all of the above listed types of material. The most complete files are on the Queen Contest and the Parade.
The Subject Files Series contain a variety of material. Included are several advertising items and a copy of the Diamond Jubilee logo, the contract with the William T. Collins Show for the carnival, a copy of the Diamond Jubilee booklet, incorporation papers and bylaws, blank letterhead paper and envelopes used, several newspaper clippings, entries for naming the pageant, various drafts of the schedule of events, and various financial records and legal papers for North Dakota sales tax collection and Federal income tax exemption. Of special note are the script for the Fargorama pageant, and the promotional packet of Johnny Olson's "Ladies Be Seated" radio program which was broadcast from Fargo during the celebration which includes several photographs with captions. There are also summaries of jubilee promotional activities by area radio stations including a booklet of all the news articles read on WDAY for March 29 to June 10, 1950.

History
The Fargo Diamond Jubilee Corporation first met on September 29, 1949 in order to begin planning a celebration in 1950 of the seventy-fifth anniversary of Fargo's incorporation.
