Scope and Contents

The Frank A. Metzgar Photographs consist of photographs of baseball games, members of the Metzgar family, a family vacation, as well as photographs of the family house in Fessenden, North Dakota, and wedding photographs of two couples whose relation to the Metzgar family is unknown. Also included are Clara Wilhelm's personal collection of photographs of Frank, his mother and his father, as well as some photographs and a letter Mrs. A.C. Solberg sent to the family in 1962. Two small scrapbooks of Frank's are also included in the collection.

Biography

Frank Andrew Metzgar was born on April 20, 1907 in Fessenden, N.D. to Andrew and Dorothy Metzgar. Frank graduated from Fessenden High School in 1923 and later attended Dakota Business College until around 1930. Frank married Evelyn Regina Hager on February 14, 1936. They had one son, Roy George Metzgar, born 1938. Frank worked for the Farmers Insurance Group in Fargo as a claims manager for 33 years until his retirement in 1977. In 1984 Frank moved to Seattle, Washington. He died April 19, 1987.
