Biography

David Heimdahl was born June 17, 1949 in Havre, Montana to Finn and Alice Heimdahl. In 1952, the family moved to St. Louis Park, Minnesota where David would graduate from St. Louis Park High School in 1967. He would attend Moorhead State University and receive his bachelor’s degree in business in 1971.

David went on to work with youth as the Youth Director and director of Camp Cormorant at the Y.M.C.A. in Fargo, North Dakota. While working at Camp Cormorant, met a young woman named Winky.

On July 29, 1974, David, Winky, and two young campers closed camp for the summer and were headed back to Fargo for David and Winky’s engagement party. They were hit by a drunk driver and gave David a traumatic brain injury. David went on to survive the accident and thrive, living and working in the Fargo community.

David died June 24, 2013 at the age of 64.
