Scope and Contents

This collection consists of several booklets on running a homemakers’ club that include such things as secretary duties, duties of the president, etc. It also includes two activity books to help run a “Santa’s Workshop” and lastly, it includes the record books from the club from the years 1939 to 1997.

Biography

The Hollyhock Homemakers’ Club was a division of the North Dakota Homemakers’ Clubs centered in Leonard, ND from at least 1939 to 1997 or later . Such homemakers’ clubs had begun in North Dakota as early as 1918. The meetings generally took place at members’ homes in Leonard.

This collection contains records and documents pertaining to the Hollyhock Homemkaers' Club which was conducted in and around Leonard, North Dakota. This club was part of a larger system of homemakers' clubs in North Dakota beginning around 1918 and being helped by the North Dakota Agricultural College's extension services (later North Dakota State University).
