Biography

Daniel Webster born on March 4th, 1854, in Franklin county Maine. In 1856, his family removed from Maine, to Stillwater, MN. Later, in 1878, Daniel headed out to Cass County, Dakota Territory, and was one of the first to homestead in Webster Township (today Gunkel Township). On February 19, 1884, Daniel Webster was married to Lura Masterman, also originally from Maine. The couple had seven children, five lived to adulthood. Webster though out his life held several public offices, and was one of the first public endorsees of the Republican party in the new state of North Dakota. He was a member of several organizations and unions, including: Ancient order of United Workmen, Modern Woodmen of America, and the Brotherhood of American Yeoman.

Around 1905, the family moved to Yakima, Washington, where Daniel Webster died on February 18th, 1917. His wife Laura died in 1949.
