Biography
The 164th Infantry regiment is a unit of the United States Army based out of North Dakota. They began as a unite on December 8, 1906 from the North Dakota Army National Guard Company E, First Infantry Regiment. Their first activated service as a federal unit was June 18th, 1916 for service on the Mexican border.
Following World War, I, the unit was activated at Williston for deployment in 1941. Under the command of Colonel Bryant E. Moore, the unit joined the 182nd and the 132nd which became the first regiments to land at Guadalcanal on October 13, 1942. The unit would continue to engage with enemy forces through the South Pacific and would see battles in Burma (Myanmar), Bougainville, and the Philippines.
The 164th also served in the Korean war when they were ordered into serve on January 16, 1951.
