Biography

The Assemblies of God denomination was founded around 1914 and in Fargo, North Dakota, the group was under the Gospel Tabernacle which itself was founded in 1927. It was founded by Rev. H. H. Ness. The first Assemblies of God building was at 403 Seventh Ave. N.

The current church is located on 25th St. South in Fargo.

Paul Herman Hild was born April 9, 1917 in Hoisington, Kansas to Albert and Gertrude Hild. He grew up in Fargo, North Dakota after his family moved there when he was eight years old. He graduated from North Central Bible Institute in 1936 and was ordained with the Assemblies of God church in 1939. He would go on to lead meetings in 48 states and 8 Canadian provinces. His ministry was focused on youth crusades all of which had a western theme. He named them All Kids Roundups and was known by the nickname of Cowboy Smiley.

Paul passed away in Springfield Missouri on February 23, 2010.
