Biography

Armour and Company was founded in Chicago in 1867 by the Armour brothers. By 1880, the company became Chicago’s leading meat packer and created the Union Stock Yards in Chicago the center of the industry. Armour and Company purchased the Equity meat packing plant in West Fargo, North Dakota in 1925. The plant closed in July of 1960. The plant and property were then purchased by the West Fargo Union Stockyards.
