Scope and Contents

These items were likely transferred from the Becker County Museum, where Virginia Weston worked as secretary, and did not fit into the scope of their collections. This collection contains eleven photographs, mostly of sand castles that were built in West Acres Shopping Mall in Fargo in 1989 as part of the North Dakota Centennial Celebration. Two other photos are of people, Lynette Nelson as Miss North Dakota National Teen-Ager, and a wedding picture of Corey & Kent (Nelson) Jonson taken in 1987.

Biography

Virginia Weston was born in Detroit Lakes, in 1947. She was the daughter of Vernon and Edith J. (Mackner) Weston. At the time of donation, Ms. Weston was living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She served as president of the Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society, and also served as secretary for the Becker County Historical Society.
