The collection also has a justice docket from 1889 to 1892 detailing accounts of arrest and court dates within the township.

History
Tower City is located in Tower Township in Cass County. The city was founded in April of 1879, and it was named after Charlemange Tower. Tower was a stock owner in the North Pacific Railroad and sold the parcel of land he owned to a George H. Ellsbury who started the town. There were very few buildings in Tower city initially: only a hotel, depot, two houses, and a school were present. One of the first houses belonge to E. Chapmann the first treasurer of Tower City. At the time the city’s economy relied heavily on agriculture and transports from the railroad. Because of this in the late 19th and early 20th centuries the city saw a boom in population. Only later in the 20th century did the city start to see a population decline.
