Biography
Shanks, known as Ralph Shanks during his baseball career, was born at Hannah, N.D. in August 8, 1898 He served in World War I and attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. In Fargo he played with the Fargo Athletics, Moorhead Athletics, and the Fargo-Moorhead Twins baseball teams in the 1920s. He later worked at the IRS office in Fargo.
Robert was married to Velda Cavers on March 1, 1925. They had two children, Delores and Robert. He would eventually pass way on July 26, 1967.
