Phi Delta Kappa, Fargo-Moorhead Chapter Records

 Collection
Identifier: Mss 316

Scope and Contents

The Phi Delta Kappa Fargo-Moorhead Chapter Records primarily relate to Cynthia Selland, the chapter’s newsletter editor. In particular, the collection has drafts of the 25th anniversary booklet printed in 1983, newsletters, and correspondence as they relate to Selland. A later donation of chapter records (ca. 3 linear ft.) has been accessioned (Acc. 2853) but has not yet been organized. There are six series in the collection: Bylaws, Membership, Activities, Newsletters, Correspondence, and Meeting Minutes. The Bylaws series contains the bylaws of the chapter, as well as revisions to the bylaws. The Membership series includes membership rolls from 1983, as well as lists of officers. The Activities Series is the largest series in the collection and contains all documents relating to the chapter’s activities and events. Of particular interest are the drafts of the 25th Anniversary booklet, done in 1983 (a copy of the final publication can be found on the shelves of the Institute). The documents in this series date back to 1971, though all but a handful are from 1982-1984. The Newsletters Series contains both the chapter’s newsletters and the district’s newsletters (the district includes Manitoba, Canada, and all of North Dakota). Printed monthly, they date from 1981-1984 and are mostly complete. The Correspondence Series includes the chapter’s correspondence, and relates to all aspects of the chapter. Subdivided into three files by date, the vast majority is from 1981-1984. The Meeting Minutes Series consists of meeting minutes and agendas, as well as reminders of upcoming meetings. Included in each meeting’s minutes are financial statements, among other documents.
