Biography
William Drew Washburn was born April 3, 1863 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to William Drew and Elizabeth (Muzzy) Washburn. He went to Minneapolis, Minnesota publish schools before graduating from the Phillips Andover Academy in Massachusetts in 1883. He would graduate from Yale University in 1888. In addition to newspaper businesses, he was also involved in real estate and railroad businesses. He served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1901 to 1919.
He married Florence (Savier) Washburn in 1890 and would have three children, William Drew, Thomas K, and John Franklin. He died October 10, 1929 in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
