Biography

Heinrich Edinger was born October 16, 1862 to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edinger in southern Russia (in what today is now Ukraine). His family was of German heritage. On October 1, 1883, he marred Elisabeth Klein. They had eight children. They left Odessa in October 4, 1889 and they headed to Eureka, South Dakota. In November of 1889, Heinrich homesteaded in McIntosh County, North Dakota. The family lived at this homestead until March of 1896. One of Heinrich’s brothers had, in the meantime, left Odessa and settled in Wells County. Heinrich decided to move his family closer to his brother and purchased lands in Wells County and settled on 312 acres.



In 1925, Heinrich retired from farming and moved into Cathay, North Dakota. Heinrich Edinger died March 11, 1937.
