Scope and Content
The World’s Columbian Exposition Photograph Collection is an artificial collection created by archives staff to house photographic prints from the exposition related to North Dakota's contributions. Currently the collection only contains one stereo view card photographed and published by B. W. Kilburn, of Littleton, N.H. Printed on the front is the following: "8813, Dakota at Agricultural Building, World's Columbian Exposition."
In Photo Folio 53.1, there is a large matted photograph of the Board of World's Fair Managers of North Dakota. Identifications printed under the photograph are "Alfred Dickey, Executive Manager, Jamestown. John M. Turner, Treasurer, Grand Forks. Martin Hector, President, Fargo. O. G. Meacham, Carrington. Jacob A. Field, Bismarck. D. R. McGinnis, Secretary, Grand Forks."

History
The World’s Columbian Exposition was a world's fair held in Chicago, Illinois in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World in 1492.
“North Dakota’s recognition of the World’s Columbia Exposition was inaugurated at the second session of the Legislative Assembly, by passage of an act entitled, “An Act to provide for the Collection, Arrangement and Display of the Products of the State of North Dakota, at the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893.” This act provided for the appointment of a “State Board of World’s Fair Managers,” consisting of five citizens of the State. This Board was directed to appoint an Executive Manager, who was require, subject to the supervision of the Board, to have personal charge of the solicitation, collection, transportation, arrangements, and the exhibition of the objects sent under the authority of the State to the Exposition. The Board was not only to make a collection of the natural and industrial products of the State, but was to collect and prepare objects illustrating its history, progress, moral and material welfare, and future development. This Act was approved by the Governor, March 6th 1891.” – North Dakota at the World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893, Pg. 4
