Scope and Content

The Ralph Ferguson Photograph Collection contains 15 copy photographic prints. The originals were returned to Gordon Ferguson. The copy negatives were placed in the Institute’s 120mm negative collection, with the number listed after each image in the inventory list. The photographs come from an album of a Minnesota man who was involved in road construction in western North Dakota in the 1930s.

Biography

Ralph Fredrick Ferguson was born on March 10, 1911 in Minnetrista, Hennepin Co., Minnesota, the son of Arthur J. and Mabel M. (Swenson) Ferguson. The family moved to Hubbard County, and settled in Lake Alice Township. He worked in road construction for Farrell Contracting Co. In World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He married his brother’s widow Dorothy Kathryn (Colgrove) Ferguson. He died on August 26, 1996 in Redmond, Oregon, at the age of 85.
