“The National Association of Master Plumbers had its origin in the efforts made by leading members of the trade in New York, in the latter part of 1882, to form an association for the protection of trade interests; to encourage inventions and improvements in sanitary appliances, and foster national and state legislation for the furtherance of sanitary laws.” - Proceedings of the ... Annual Convention of the National Association of Master Plumbers of the United States of America ... : 1914-1916, pg. 347. The first annual convention of the North Dakota branch was held in Grand Forks in 1920.
