History
The Prosper Homemakers’ Club was founded on March 24, 1924 in Prosper, North Dakota in rural Cass County. Prosper was platted in 1911 along the Great Northern Railroad and is currently an unincorporated township. The Prosper Homemakers’ Club was formed as part of the Extension service at the North Dakota Agricultural College (now North Dakota State University) and provided lessons on baking, sewing, other household duties, and would participate in charity events. Lessons were given to an individual member of the club who would then teach that lesson to the other members of the club at their monthly meeting. The club would also hold social events, such as picnics and Christmas parties. The Prosper Homemakers’ Club would see its strongest years in the 1940s through the 1960s, then see their membership steadily decline into the 1980s. The club ceased in 1984.
