This collection has three photographic prints. One of the Mickelson farmstead near Kindred, North Dakota, date unknown; one of Asle and Marget, dated 1919; and one of Arther Klovstad and his wife, Gurine Mickelson Klovstad in 1955.

Biography

Asle Mickelson was born in Norway in 1847 to Mikkel Nielsen and Guri Torstendr. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1868, settling for a time in Ferryville, Wisconsin. He married Marguerite Bjornson (1858-1931) on February 7, 1875. They would have fifteen children. In 1879 he and his family would move to farm four miles east of Kindred, North Dakota. He would eventually move to Moorhead where he would pass away on July 3, 1937. He is buried in Norman Cemetery, in Cass county, North Dakota.
