Biography

Jacob Walters was born March 7, 1863 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Carl and Caroline (Haas) Walters. The family was of German descent. The family left Wisconsin and moved to Ramsey, Minnesota, then to Moorhread, Minnesota, and then eventually to Cass county, North Dakota. Jacob eventually moved to Berlin, North Dakota in 1885.



In 1887, Jacob married Bertha Swenson (1866-1962). They would have two children. Jacob and Bertha farmed near Hillsboro, North Dakota. The family eventually left North Dakota, moving to Perley, Minnesota to farm.



Jacob died July 28, 1958 while living in Traill County, North Dakota and is buried in Gardner, North Dakota.
