This collection contains five printed Christmas cards from Peter and Susan Schickele. Each card has a different image on the front. Three of the cards are blank on the back while two of the cards have written messages from Peter.

Biography

Peter Schickele was born in Ames, Iowa on July 17, 1935 to Rainer and Elizabeth (Wilcox) Schickele. His father was an agricultural economist at Iowa State University. In 1946, his father becamse the chairman of the Agricultural Sciences department at North Dakota Agricultural College (now North Dakota State University) in Fargo, North Dakota. While living in Fargo, Peter studied under composer Sigvald Thompson. He gradated from Fargo Central High School in 1952. He then attended Swarthmore College, and graduated in 1957 with a degree in music. While at Swarthmore, he scored his first film. In 1960, he graduated from Juilliard with a masters in musical composition.

As a musician and composer, Peter wrote music for a variety of people (like Joan Baez) and played bassoon. In addition to these works, Peter also created a parody work called P.D.Q. Bach which featured comedy in both music and musical instruments. For this work he has won the Grammy award for Best Comedy recording/album as well as best classical crossover album.

Peter is married to Susan Sindall. They have two children, Matt and Karla who are also both musicians. Peter and Susan live in New York City, New York.
