Biography
Herbert Emmons was born December 2, 1880 to Jonathan and Martha Jane (Marshal) Emmons in Minnesota. Herbert’s father had moved to Cass County, Dakota Territory after the Civil War and Herbert was around 3 when his father died. By the turn of the century, Herbert moved to Wheatland, North Dakota. In 1904, Herbert married Caroline S. Syverson at the Episcopal church in Wheatland. They would have at least three children, Bernice, Ida Mae, and Martha. By 1910, the Emmons family were living in Fargo, North Dakota. Herbert would work in the book binding and printing industry, eventually becoming the president of the Fargo Bookbinders Union.
Caroline Emmons died, August 23, 1951 and Herbert died February 1, 1963. Both are in Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, North Dakota
