Biography

Dorothy Berry was born in Far Hills, New Jersey in 1879. She came with her family to Taylor, North Dakota in at a young age. She attended North Dakota Agricultural College (N.D.A.C.) in Fargo in the 1890s. She studied literature and stock breeding and judging. After college she taught at a prairie school. While on vacation in New Jersey, she met and married an Italian count. With this marriage she obtained a title La Contessa Dorotea de Sauteiron de St. Clement. She was a poet and author. She published the books, White Gumbo and Prairies and Palaces. She died in New Jersey in 1984.
