Institute for Regional Studies Archives Artifacts and Small Ephemera Collection

 Collection
Identifier: Mss 1597

Scope and Content

The majority of the artifacts are from the North Dakota Photograph Collection (Acc. 2740), which was compiled by John Caron, a native of Fargo, N.D., and a graduate of Fargo Central High School and NDSU, where he received his BA in mathematics in 1966. He collected photographic and postcard images of Fargo from which he developed a website on Fargo’s history. In 2004 he donated the web site of some 600 individual pages containing over 1,000 images to the Institute for Regional Studies, as well as the artifacts within the collection. In addition to the North Dakota Photograph Collection, artifacts were also donated as parts of larger manuscript or record donations (Acc. 7, 40, 2010, 2136, 2926, and others). When known, the accession number is included in the inventory listing.
