History
On September 9, 1910, the Fargo National Bank building, located at 52 Broadway, was severely damaged by a fire which originated at the neighboring Pirie’s Cafe. Fargo architect, Milton E. Beebe was hired to design a new building to be built in the site of the previous structure. The plans were ready March 15, 1999 and a call for bids were put out. The building designs called for a three-story building, that had twenty-two offices. The main floor was devoted entirely to the bank operations. The finishes were in marble and mahogany. The contractors were The Bowers Brothers. The building was fire proof built of steel, Bedford cut stone and Hebron pressed brick. The building was completed in January 1912. The building served as the Fargo National Bank until 1958 when it moved to Main Avenue. Since then the building has been used by Piper Jaffray & Hopewood, Red River Broadcasting (KRRZ Radio), A. G. Edwards & Sons, Financial Advantage Brokerage Service, Bredahl attorney office, and finely remodeled for usage as a bar named Fort Noks Bar of Gold.
