History

According to its constitution, the Town Criers Club of Fargo, North Dakota was organized in 1911. The purpose of the organization was to promote a high standard of truthful advertising. Membership was restricted to “white persons of 20 years of age or over interested in legitimate advertising, and such other persons as the Club may deem desirable” (Constitution, pg. 1). Applications for membership had to be endorsed by two members in good standing.
