Scope and Contents

The North Dakota Centenarian Study Interviews consists of seven video interviews, which reflects all the interviews that were conducted for this project. The grant-funded project was administered by Dr. Sanders, while Candace Philbrick conducted the actual interviews. The only documentation received with the collection was the interview consent forms for each. This form allows permission ‘to videotape the interview and to share your experiences with others in classrooms, research, and written material on our oldest citizens.’ Each interview consists of a single VHS tape and have been organized alphabetically.

History

Dr. Greg Sanders of the NDSU Department of Child Development and Family Science received a grant to conduct interviews of persons who were 100 years old or older ‘in order to learn about the experiences of long life and the history that you have been a part of over 100+ years. We would like to make these life histories available for researchers who wish to study the experiences of 100 years of life and to share your stories with others.” The interviewer was Candace Philbrick and all were conducted in 1999.

Abstract

The North Dakota Centenarian Study Interviews consists of seven video interviews, done as a grant-funded project administered by Dr. Greg Sanders of the NDSU Department of Child Development and Family Science, and Candace Philbrick conducted the actual interviews. Each interview, conducted in 1999, consists of a single VHS tape Those interviewed include Katherine Fallett, Hilda Jacobson, Jeanette Kennedy,William Mueller,Hazel Patton, Belle Thomas, and Grace H. Wahl.
