This collection contains a diverse collection of materials regarding aspects of North Dakota and its history. It has been arranged alphabetically by topic, as established by Institute staff. Individual files may contain pamphlets, brochures, booklets, newspaper and magazine clippings, and other types of documents. The topics are usually broad in nature. Similar material for Fargo is kept in a separate Fargo collection.

History

Over the years the Institute staff has acquired discreet historical items that needed to be retained but that were too small to establish a separate collection in the archives. Thus a vertical file system for the material was established at some unknown time. Additions, although limited, are still made to the collection.
