Scope and Contents
The Pamela Ryan Collection consists of four photographs, circa 1910-1950s; family history information; and four books, dating from 1885-1917. The collection has been arranged into three series: Photograph, Family History, and Books.
The Photograph Series contains four photographs, dating from about 1910 to the 1950s. The first photograph [2010.30.01] is a wallet sized print of Emma Corey, circa 1956. On the front of the photograph is inscribed: “1956.” On the back of the photograph is inscribed: “Emma Corey/ Return to Chapel of the Chime, PO Box 255, Meridian [Idaho] 83642. Obit 88.” Stamped on the back is “Jul 5, 1977.” The second photograph [2010.30.02] is a studio portrait of Emma Rudel, circa 1910. She is seated and wearing a light-colored dress. The photographer was A. Warner of Fessenden, North Dakota. The third photograph [2010.30.03] is a print of Emma and Curtis Corey, circa 1940s. Emma Corey (on the left) is wearing glasses and a dark dress with a floral pin and a spangled ornament on her belt. Curtis Corey (on the right) is wearing a striped 3-piece suit with a floral tie. The fourth photograph [2010.30.04] is a mounted print of two-story house with a vine-covered front porch, circa 1920s-1930s. A coatless on is visible at the right on the porch. The man is identified as Simon Rudel and the house is his home in Spokane, Washington. The house number in the image is 613. On the bottom corner is inscribed: “S Rudels/ Spokane.” On the back is stamped: “B.J. Lash, Phone Glen. 119.”
The Family History Series contains family history information. In the series is a photocopied obituary of Emma D Corey from the Idaho Statesman, Boise, Tuesday July 5, 1977. There are also pages from the Marie Rudel Portner [Room] dedication. These pages are printouts from the GRHC website which include information on Marie Rudel Portner and her family. Pages of family history removed from a Bible are included.
The Book Series contains two books dating from 1885. The book are a hymnal and a writing book. The books are both in the German language. The first book, Die Glaubensharfe. Gesanguch der Deutschen Baptisten-Gemeinde. Herausgegeben auf Beschluss der Bundeskonferenz der Deutschen Baptisten-Gemeinden von Amerika, is inscribed with “From Papa when I was 10 years old.” The second book, Schreib=Lese=Fibel mit besonderer Beruechichtigung der Lautiermethode, is inscribed with “Corey, Mrs.”
