The Straub/ Graepp Families Collection consists of a German hymnal, information on the Straub family, typescript of a song, correspondence, and an article. Dates were not available for all the items in the collection. However, the items that are dated include the following time frames: 1888-1890, 1937, and 1971-2002.

There are two articles in German. They are both photocopies. The first article, “Die Straub von Gruibingen,” is from an unknown book, but it dates to September 1971. The other article is also from an unknown source. Along the photocopied article is written, “Dr. Karl Stummp’s review of Eureka area – visit – 1971. As part of his review appearing in a magazine in Germany.”

The typescript of a song, “Dort im Dakotaland” Rev. by Arthur Leno, is in German. Also typed on the sheet is “Revision of ‘Boehmerwald’.” The song is in three verses and is on a partial sheer of paper.

The information on the Straub family includes photocopies from a book, a recommendation letter, and correspondence. The book pages are on Henry Straub and Family and are from the Eureka 50th Anniversary book, Eureka, 1887-1937. The photocopied recommendation letter is for Heinrich Straub. It includes an English translation and is dated to 1890. The letter is also photocopied. It is a letter from Margaret Wolf to Leona. The letter describes a trip to Germany, meeting distant relatives, and video-taping stories of relatives living in Siberia and other areas.

The hymnal, Deutsch-Amerikanische Chor-Lieder zum Gebrauch in den detuschen Protestantischen Kirchen von Amerika, in Stadt und Land by C.A. Weiss & Geo. F. Rosche, is in German. The hymnal was published in Chicago and dates to 1888.
