Scope and Contents

This collection contains all the documents and products related to the Dakota Memories Oral History Project. It has been organized into three series: Narrator, Administration, and Oral History with numerous Sub-Series.

The Narrator Series contains information relating to the 199 narrators and their interviews. Each folder contains the interview, forms used during video processing, a biography form of the narrator, and often photos and documents from the narrator. There is also correspondence to and from the narrator in their file. There is one sub-series, the Potential Narrator Sub-Series which contains documents relating to potential interviews.

The Administration Series contains documents created during the operation of the project. The material has been organized into five sub-series. The Expense/Income Records Sub-Series includes financial information from 2004-2010. The Donations Sub-Series contains documents relating to potential and received financial donations. The Grants Sub-Series contains information relating to numerous grants received during the project including those from the NDSU Development Foundation Centennial Endowment Fund grants, a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, North Dakota Humanities Council Grants, and others. The Surveys/Workshop Sub-Series contains surveys from 2009 and workshop evaluations. The Additional Administrative Files Sub-Series contains the remainder of administrative files. Some included are employee and volunteer lists, a DMOHP Catalog, training notes, the employee handbook, and the contents from the Processing Binder.

The Oral History Series contains the media on which the interviews were recorded and transferred to. The CD/Radio Program Sub-Series contains CDs and documents pertaining to the many radio shows that were created from the individual interviews. The Narrator DVDs Sub-Series contains archival DVD copies of the narrator’s interviews. The Original Video Recordings Sub-Series contains the original tapes the interviews were recorded on.
