Scope and Contents
The Hulda (Wacker) Reinhardt Collection consists of two pins and one photocopied image. The collection has been divided into two series: Artifact and Photograph.
The Artifact Series contains two pins:
The first pin (1998.03.01) is a “DFYF” pin of blue and white glass enamel; circa 1931-1934 as “club” pins for sisters Esther and Hulda Wacker in rural Wacker #1 school (twenty miles northwest of Leola, South Dakota). The second pin (1998.03.02) is a Lung Association (Old Ironsides) pin is a red Lorraine Cross from third or fourth grade at rural country school, McPherson County, South Dakota.
The Photograph Series is comprised of one photocopied image of the Nill sisters, circa 1912 at Jewell and Coldwater (east of Ashley, North Dakota), McIntosh County. The Nill sisters (left to right in the image) are Emma, Christina, Martha, and Katherina Nill; daughters of John Friedrich Nill and Ottilia (Kempf) Nill. The women in the image were the aunts of Hulda (Wacker) Reinhardt; and sisters to her mother, Friedarika (Nill) Wacker.
